The Rhodes Walmart Scholarships for Canadian Students, UK

The Rhodes Walmart Scholarships are funded by the will of Cecil John Rhodes and the applicants annually since 1902 by the Oxford-based Rhodes Trust awarded on the basis of academic qualifications and character, sympathy and protection of the weak, and leadership. The Rhodes Walmart Scholarships is the most prestigious scholarship for postgraduate studies and provides full funding (including tuition fees, living expenses and travel) for two years at Oxford, with a possible extension for a third year. Eleven of these scholarships are awarded in Canada by a number of provincial competitions. Two Walmart Scholarships will be awarded to candidates in Ontario.

Eligibility
A candidate must:
a) be a Canadian citizen or person domiciled in Canada
b) have been born between October 2, 1987 and October 1, 1993 (i.e. passed their 18th but not their 24th birthday)
c) have received an undergraduate degree before taking up the scholarship in Fall 2012

Proven intellectual and academic attainment of a high standard is the first quality required for applicants, but they will also be required to show integrity of character, sympathy for and protection of the weak, the ability to lead and the energy to use their talents to the full.
More specifically:
• a cumulative grade point average of at least 4.00 (A).
• a record of extracurricular accomplishments which demonstrate achievement and ability at the leadership level.

To qualify for the Walmart Scholarship, you will need to satisfy a number of criteria although for the different scholarship programs, the requirements may vary a little. In general, if you want to apply for the Walmart scholarship as a high school leaver, you will need to meet the following entry requirements.

First and foremost, to be eligible for the Walmart Scholarship, you will need to be a citizen of the United States. If you are not an American, you can still apply for the scholarship program provided that you prove you are a permanent resident of the United States.

To qualify for the Walmart Scholarship program, you should be a free agent in the sense that you cannot have anything to do with Walmart. If you are an employee at Walmart then you cannot apply for the scholarship programs awarded by the Walmart Institute.

Regents’ Scholarship encourages Utah high school students to prepare for college academically and financially by taking a core course of study and saving for college. The scholarship may be used at any public college or university in the Utah System of Higher Education, as well as at Brigham Young University-Provo, LDS Business College, and Westminster College.

This is a non-competitive scholarship that many college-bound students find "do-able."
